Happy Monday! Last week, a Ryuk ransomware attack took down the entire IT network of a Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) regulated facility. The United States Coast Guard stated that the cause of the attack most likely began with a phishing email. Operations at the facility were reportedly shut down for over 30 hours and the facility was unable to access critical files during this time.

The website cannot be accessed at the moment due to the attack, but before it went down, the front page featured a photo of President Trump being punched in the face, along with a statement at the top of the page made by the hacking group. The hackers called themselves “Iran Cyber Security Group HackerS” and the message promised “severe revenge.”
