New National & DoD Cyber Strategies

Happy Monday, Everyone! I’ve got some interesting cyber news to share with you today:

U.S CYBER NEWS

On Friday, September 21st, the Trump Administration released a new cyber security strategy. According to Cyber Defense Magazine, it is the “first fully articulated National Cyber Strategy released in 15 years.” The President’s National Cyber Strategy is said to protect our networks by “securing Federal networks and information about our Nation’s critical infrastructure, as well as combating cybercrime and improving incident reporting.” As President Trump said, “We must protect the American people, the homeland, and our great American way of life.” It is great to know that we are taking a step forward in protecting our fast-growing cyber world.

D.O.D. NEWS

For the first time in three years, the Department of Defense has released a new formal cyber strategy document. The DoD explains in the documents that they would “focus their cyber efforts on China and Russia, as well as using the Pentagon’s cyber capabilities to collect intelligence and prepare for future conflicts.” A few of the objectives of the DoD’s cyber strategy include:

  • Conducting cyber operations that enhance U.S. military advantages,
  • Defending American critical infrastructure from malicious activity that may cause a significant cyber incident,
  • Securing DoD information and systems,
  • Enabling forces to act outside U.S. boundaries to get a better understanding of what adversaries are doing in order to better defend against them.

PRIVACY & SECURITY FORUM NEXT WEEK

Lastly, for our readers in the Washington, D.C. area: From October 3-5th, the Privacy + Security Forum will take place. Bringing in many influential security leaders, CIOs, and privacy professionals, this event intends to break down the concepts of security and privacy, while providing interactive workshops and other intriguing sessions. I hope some of you will be able to make it there!

That’s all for today! Thank you for tuning in to this week’s segment of “Mondays With
Miranda!” Keep up to date with current news by following NeQter Labs on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. As always, if anyone has any questions, feel free to email info@neqterlabs.com. Enjoy the rest of your week!
